I began my career in sports medicine as an athletic trainer in 2006. With a strong interest in the rehabilitation aspect of care, I went on to further my education by becoming a physical therapist in 2010. Early in my career, I primarily worked with patients with orthopedic conditions. During this time, I completed an orthopedic residency program in 2014 and became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2015.
After developing a personal familiarity with pelvic pain and the experience of having a child, I became acutely aware of the gaps in the health care system for these patients. This motivated me to pursue training in pelvic and obstetric physical therapy to deepen her expertise and expand the services available to this underserved population. I completed my training with the Academy on Pelvic Health Physical Therapy from 2016 - 2019, becoming a Board-Certified Women’s Health Specialist in the summer of 2020 and earning my Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Health & Obstetrical Physical Therapy (CAPP-Pelvic, CAPP-OB) in 2021.
I love working with female athletes through the lifespan, back, pelvic and hip pain conditions, with pregnant and postpartum women, and with aging women. In addition, I have a special interest in women’s sexual medicine, treating genitopelvic pain conditions and pain with penetration disorders.
I currently am a co-business owner at a private physical therapy practice in Columbus, Ohio named Misama, LLC. My practice specializes in physical therapy care for women with orthopedic, obstetrical, pelvic and sexual medicine conditions.
