Sexual Attitudes Reassessment Course: Barriers to Inclusive and Sex-Positive Healthcare

The ISSWSH-TASHRA Sexual Attitudes Reassessment (SAR) program is a process-oriented seminar designed to help sexual health providers, educators and researchers to better support gender and sexual diversity in their work. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their attitudes, values, feelings and beliefs about sexual attitudes, behaviors and identities and how these impact their professional interactions.

A SAR seminar is not a traditional academic experience intended to disseminate cognitive information, nor is it psychotherapy directed toward the resolution of personal problems. This psycho-educational experience uses lecture, media, experiential methods, activities and small group discussions to facilitate a highly personal, internal exploration that will be different for each participant. Some materials will be sexually explicit and may also involve a field trip and/ or live demonstration.

This SAR is a two-day hybrid event that satisfies the AASECT SAR requirements for certification as a sexuality educator, counselor or therapist:

• Day 1 takes place in-person in Long Beach, CA on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 (the day before the ISSWSH Annual Meeting begins)
• Day 2 takes place online on Saturday, April 13, 2024
